JMK GROUP UK consultants know the importance of not only being a fully compliant organisation but ensuring our workers are too. Our highly reputable organisation passed a recent HMRC Audit with flying colours and hold a number of industry standard accreditation’s to further support our own standing as a leading and fully compliant partner of choice
Right To Work
As we’re in the business of employing workers, we have to ensure that everyone we employ has the right to work in the UK. We make checks when registering them, and also further checks after registration (if necessary).
For our Contractor Payroll service, all workers are regarded to be inside-IR35. This will be helpful for you because there’s no Managed Service Company or tax risk because all workers are fully employed.
Those that work through their own limited company (PSC) will have to satisfy the IR35 rules if they are to be paid a salary & dividends. If they’re “inside”, then all income will be paid as employment income.
False Self Employment
In 2016 there were 4.7 million self-employed workers compared to 3.25 million in 2001. It is estimated that around half a million of these workers are bogus and are really working for a single employer, using the status to collude with that employer to pay less tax.
HMRC has now cracked down on this practice, and it is the responsibility of each employer to deduct PAYE taxes and NI contributions from all workers unless they can show that they are not supervised, directed and controlled by the client.
Agency Worker Regulations
Much like all the other risk we take as the employer, any AWR risk is shifted to us also. This means that we’re responsible for ensuring that workers are entitled to the regulation 5 rights (if not under a Swedish Derogation contract). We will work with our recruitment business partners so that comparator information is easily passed between parties.
Supply Chain Documents
We offer all our employees full employment contracts and also ensure that we have signed terms in place with all of our recruitment business partners and clients. All parties know the obligations they have to each other.
It’s important for any Contractor Payroll service to be accredited by a compliance trade body. It’s one of the few ways it can be demonstrated that the processes and undertakings of the service are safe for the worker and its clients. We have been approved by Professional Passport for many years, and it shows our focus on compliance. You’ll be in safe hands with JMK.

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is an HMRC approved scheme that applies to construction-based operations and sets out the rules regarding how payments to sub-contractors must be handled for construction work. When you register with HMRC for CIS status, you will be issued with a UTR (Unique Tax Reference) number and card. READ MORE
This UTR number dictates the amount of CIS tax deducted from your payments. If you are not already registered for CIS status you can contact HMRC directly via their website – https://www.hmrc.gov-.uk/ CIS/.
The majority of CIS contractors have CIS tax deducted at either 20% or 30%. If you are a sub-contractor in the construction industry or applying for CIS status, we can help. We provide a hassle-free CIS Payroll Service to handle invoicing, receive payments from your agency or company, processing of your payments and deduction of CIS tax. Our service is designed for new and established contractors, sub-contractors and sole traders processing a UTR number and is fully complaint with the CIS scheme.
At the end of the year JMK can aid you with any necessary tax returns and claiming back of any over payment in tax.
